Former Cairo Security Chief Ismail al-Shaer suffered from a rapid heartbeat and high blood pressure while being kept in Tora Prison.
“Doctors in the prison’s hospital are examining him to see if his case requires him be transferred to another hospital or not,” a security source told the state-run news agency MENA.
Last week, Shaer underwent heart catheterization at Al-Salam International Hospital in Maadi. He was then transferred back to prison after recovery.
Shaer was imprisoned following the eruption of the 2011 revolution along with five other security officials under former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly on charges of killing protesters during the revolution.
