In a first, Egyptian companies to deliver natural gas to homes in Europe

The Egyptian Petroleum Sector, represented by the Egyptian Natural Gas Distribution Company for Cities (Town Gas), has signed contracts to implement local manufacturing projects for natural gas pressure reduction stations inside Egypt, as well as to deliver natural gas to homes and other facilities inside Romania.

This comes after Town Gas was approved by the Romanian Energy Authority (ANRE) as a contractor to implement natural gas delivery projects, becoming the first Egyptian company working in this field in Europe.

The contracts were signed during the Egyptian-Romanian Joint Committee and Business Forum in Bucharest, in the presence of Egyptian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat, the Romanian Minister of Economy and Tourism Stefan Radu, and the Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) Yassin Mohamed, on behalf of the Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi.

The contract was signed by the Chairman of Town Gas, Mohamed Fathy, and the CEO of CIS GAZ Romania, Sebastian Calugar.

The business forum between the two countries also held its activities at the Chamber of Commerce in Bucharest.

In his speech before the forum, the EGAS Executive Managing Director reviewed the great development in cooperation with Romania in the field of natural gas.

Mohamed referred to the extensive experience of Egyptian natural gas delivery companies and their skilled cadres, qualifying them to participate in implementing natural gas delivery projects outside Egypt.

“Our partners in Romania, represented by Transgas and Ciz Gas, have distinguished cooperative relations with us that have developed into strategic partnerships,” he added.
