Arsenal’s Spanish coach, Mikel Arteta, announced the starting line-up for his team against his counterpart Fulham in the match between the two teams on Saturday’s evening.
The lineup witnessed the presence of Mohamed Elneny, the midfielder of the Gunners and the Egyptian national team, in the formation – a remarkable first.
Fulham hosted Arsenal on Saturday evening at the Emirates Stadium in the fourth round of the English Premier League.
The Arsenal’s match against Fulham started, on Saturday, at the Emirates Stadium, in the fourth round of the Premier League, at 6:30 pm Cairo time, corresponding to 7:30 pm Saudi time, and at 8:30 pm UAE time.
Arsenal’s starting line-up for the match was as follows:
- Goalkeeper: Aaron Ramsdale.
- In defense: Kieran Tierney, Gabriel, Saliba and Ben White.
- In the midfield: Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Martin Odegaard.
- In the offensive line: Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.
Elneny’s journey to Arsenal
Elneny joined Arsenal coming from Swiss champions FC Basel in January 2016.
He showed a distinguished performance in Arsenal’s last matches, after the injury of midfielder Thomas Partey.
Elneny played 147 games with Arsenal, during which he scored five goals and assisted ten others.
He participated in 14 games with Arsenal this season in all competitions, during which he scored two goals.
Elneny started his career with at Ahly’s juniors team before his transfer to al-Mokawloon Sporting Club, which sold the player to FC Basel, which in turn sold him to Arsenal.
The Arsenal Club officially announced they would be renewing their contract with Elneny back in May, after his contract was due to expire in June.
