Cairo metro notified riders and station users on Thursday that lines one and two will not stop at Anwar Sadat station in Tahrir Square on Saturday, due to the planned procession of royal mummies.
The procession, which starts downtown at 6 pm and will make its way to the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, prompted officials to close the station from 12 pm to 9 pm that day.
All other stations on the three metro lines will be operating normally at this time, Cairo Metro added.
Twenty-two royal mummies will be transferred in the procession, all of which date back to the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth and twentieth dynasties, including 18 mummies of kings and 4 mummies of queens.
