The American club Inter Miami, which includes star Lionel Messi, revealed that it will not be participating in the Riyadh Season Cup match in Saudi Arabia.
This runs counter to an announcement by Chairman of the Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia Turki Al-Sheikh, who claimed that the American club would participate in Riyadh Season Cup.
The Riyadh Season Cup competitions were scheduled to be held between Inter Miami led by Argentine Lionel Messi, al-Hilal and al-Nasr, led by the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, in a league system.
Inter Miami published an official statement on its website in which it said: “Earlier today, an announcement was made stating that Inter Miami will play in the Riyadh Season Cup. This is inaccurate.”
“The announcement also included statements attributed to Jorge Mas, the team owner, and he did not make any comments publicly or privately.”
The statement concluded: “We held talks to determine the pre-season schedule for 2024, and we look forward to our first international tour, which will be announced in the coming weeks.”
The Riyadh Season Cup competitions will begin in the first week of February 2024, in the Kingdom Arena of Saudi Arabia, which was recently inaugurated at the opening ceremony of the Riyadh Season in its fourth edition.
