Interim President Adly Mansour issued Wednesday a presidential decree extending the deadline of the report prepared by the committee known as "30 June fact-finding committee," for three months.
The committee was formed by Mansour in presidential decree No. 698 of 2013.
The recent decree stipulates that the committee should end its work on 21 September 2014.
Presidencial spokesperson Ehab Badawy said that head of the committee Fouad Abdel Moneim Riad requested the extension of the report's deadline to 21 September 2014 to ensure that the committee could more accurately perform its task.
Riad said investigations were still ongoing, and a number of judges, who are members of the fact-finding committee, had to supervise the constitutional referendum, suspending the commmittee's work for some time, according to Badawy.
The 30 June fact-finding committee was formed under the supervision of the Ministry of Transitional Justice.
Another committee formed by the National Council for Human Rights issued a report in March, blaming the police and demonstrators for the deaths and violence which occurred during the dispersal of Rabaa al-Adaweya sit-in in mid-August 2013.
The 30 June fact-finding committee spokesperson Omar Marawan said Wednesday evening the committee dispatched investigators to al-Aqarab Prison to inspect the case of Al Jazeera correspondent on hunger strike, Abdallah al-Shamy.
The investigators did not find Shamy as he was in session for the renewal of his detention, Mawan said, adding investigators would visit him again.
