The Interior Ministry has deployed 440,000 officers to secure protesters during demonstrations, officials revealed in a press statement on Monday.
The ministry has taken unprecedented measures to secure citizens during protests for and against President Mohamed Morsy, officials claimed, while security patrols have been increased.
According to the statement, forces secured vital institutions across the country, adding that all staff leaves have been cancelled while unrest continues.
The same official stressed that security forces carried out their missions with "high efficiency" and, therefore, prevented the any criminal incidents which could have disrupted citizens in the past 24 hours.
Twenty-seven officers had been injured on duty and were receiving treatment, he said.
Police managed to seize 119 unlicensed firearms and 88 bladed weapons, meanwhile halting 39 drug dealing cases and apprehending nine for alleged gangster-related crimes, the official declared.
Sixteen have been declared dead and hundreds more injured since protests started on Sunday, the Health Ministry reported on Monday.
