Security services arrested 444 suspects for allegedly intimidating citizens in an attempt to prevent them from casting their ballots in the referendum.
The suspects are accused of firing bullets and bird shot and throwing Molotov cocktails at voters on their way to polling stations, killing nine as well as inflicting injuries on other voters.
Interior Ministry sources said police coordinated with armed forces to confront all Brotherhood supporters in an attempt to disrupt voting and hamper the referendum process at various polling stations. Security forces also confronted marches by Brotherhood supporters, who also fired shots killing nine in the Giza, Sohag and Beni Suef governorates. The violence occurred over the course of the two-day referendum on 14 and 15 January.
The suspects were in possession of various arms, including bladed weapons, Molotov cocktails, and also had masks, fireworks, banners and flyers, according to investigations.
