Interior Ministry develops security plan for Eid al-Fitr

Security sources said that the Ministry of Interior has developed a plan to secure the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday, especially with the expected travel of many citizens to the coastal cities to spend the holiday there because of the high temperature of the weather.

The sources added that Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar, instructed tightened security measures in the vicinity of important installations and police sites, in anticipation of any emergency.

The plan includes increased security patrols and presence at public parks, archaeological sites, malls, cinemas and downtown Cairo to arrest law-breakers and to address the instances of sexual harassment.

The present security forces will include bomb squads, according to the same sources.

The Public Security Department was instructed to intensify the daily crackdowns and to expand the criminal and political suspicion circles in coordination with the other departments.

They were instructed to examine the legal statuses of tenants of the furnished apartments and hotel units in coordination with the National Security Agency, said the sources.

Traffic police will be present on the main axes and squares, accompanied by emergency police cars, to deal immediately with any urgency, the sources mentioned.

The traffic departments at the level of all governorates were instructed to intensify traffic campaigns to control violations, and to manage expected high traffic densities in the places of gatherings during Eid holiday,

Emergency police forces and cars will be deployed as well on desert highways in anticipation of high travel rates during the holiday.

Supply police was instructed to tighten security on markets, bakeries and petrol stations to prevent the smuggling of subsidized goods or the sale of expired goods and goods unfit for human consumption.
