Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said that during the term of deposed President Mohamed Morsy, the Muslim Brotherhood opened channels of communication with Hamas to use its elements in the implementation of hostile schemes.
In a news conference held on Thursday to report the details of the Mansoura bombing, which took place last week, the minister claimed that investigations had revealed the MB were co-conspirators with Hamas to roll out a series of plots that would be harmful to Egypt..
He said in the period subsequent to 25 January 2011, especially during Morsy's term, the MB worked to widen its base in different parts of the country, and converged with allies belonging to extremist groups to implement violent schemes.
MB made relations with Hamas leaders including Ayman Nofal and Raed al-Attar, who “have provided them with various aspects of logistic support through hosting them [MB members] in the Gaza Strip and teaching them the rules of security and training them on various weapons at the Qassam Brigades camps.”
“The two parties [MB and Hamas] discussed some issues related to military technology, including the invention of two devices aiming to disturb the work of aircrafts, adjusting the process of directing the Qassam rockets, developing the work of decoders, and developing a system for monitoring aircraft with the use of computers,” the minister went on.
The minister added that the cooperation between Hamas and the MB entailed the founding of the so-called Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis group, led by the fugitive Tawfiq Mohamed Ferig, better known as Abu Abdallah, in addition to the Furqan brigades, headed by the fugitive leader Mohamed Ahmed Nasr .
