A specialized committee has been formed to investigate the death of the late footballer Ahmed Refaat and his file has been referred to the Egyptian Public Prosecutor’s Office.
In a phone interview with the “Sabahko Riyadah” program on Radio Al-Shabab wa Al-Riyadah, presented by journalist Najla Helmy, Mohamed Shadhili, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, stated that “investigations into the death of Refaat are still ongoing.”
He pointed out that the advisory committee, formed by Ashram Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, has not yet informed them of the date of the end of the investigations, “We will not be able to disclose any developments at the moment,” he added.
The committee formed to investigate the death of Refaat is reviewing documents and examining the circumstances surrounding the player’s travel and return.
A specific date for the completion of the committee’s work cannot be determined, but the results of the committee will be issued within a week or ten days, he said.
He explained that the currently formed committee to determine the causes of Refaat’s crisis includes a group of doctors and specialists in medical care.
A closed investigation is currently being conducted and daily meetings are being held.
If any papers are needed from the Modern Sport Club, the Football Federation, or the Olympic Committee, there is another committee that will obtain them.
The player’s health issues first unfolded during a league match against Ittihad Alexandria several months ago.
