Iranian missiles score direct hits on buildings inside Israel: Reports

Iranian missiles and drones have struck multiple locations across Israel, including Jerusalem and northern regions, causing confirmed structural damage and casualties, Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen news network reported Saturday.

According to Israeli media cited by Al-Mayadeen, a direct hit was recorded on a building in Ashkelon.

Additionally, Israel’s Channel 12 confirmed that a nine-story building in the north sustained “significant destruction” to a residential apartment following the Iranian barrage.

Reports also indicated that an Iranian missile destroyed a building in Haifa, with another impact confirmed in Jerusalem.

Air defenses and sirens

The IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) Radio reported that shrapnel from missile interceptions fell in areas surrounding Jerusalem. Air raid sirens sounded dozens of times across the country as hundreds of drones and missiles entered the airspace.

Context of the escalation

These strikes follow Iran’s formal response to a large-scale US-Israeli offensive launched early Saturday morning, which targeted government and military headquarters across several Iranian provinces.

US President Donald Trump described the initial offensive as “combat operations” aimed at “defending the American people by eliminating imminent Iranian threats,” according to the televised address cited by the network.
