Iraqi embassy to organize economic conference for Egyptian companies

Haidar Nouri, commercial attaché in the Iraqi Embassy in Cairo, announced that his country is organizing an economic conference on March 31, devoted to the reconstruction of liberated Iraqi areas and the reconstruction of the rest of the provinces, featuring the participation of several Egyptian companies.

He explained during a telephone conversation with host Hassan Osman on the al-Rafedain satellite channel that between 50 to 60 Egyptian companies would participate. He added that the embassy has also organized a workshop for the Egyptian companies and provided them with investment opportunities on the ground in Iraq.

Nouri stressed on Iraq’s safety, having been completely freed from the Islamic State’s grip.

Iraq’s ambassador to Egypt, Habib Hadi al-Sadr, stated Saturday, on the sidelines of the Iraqi embassy’s celebration of the 97th anniversary of foundation of the Iraqi army, that a joint presidential Egyptian-Iraqi committee will be formed to sign several Memoranda of Understandings for different fields.

Sadr added that Iraq awaits the participation of Egyptian companies in reconstructing the freed cities.

He said that Iraqi Prime Minister, Haidar al-Abbadi, began an anti-corruption campaign in the belief that terrorism and corruption are two sides of the same coin. He clarified that Iraq will take a long time to eradicate extremist thought even after eliminating the terrorist forces.

He noted that the elimination of terrorist thought rests on the reinforcement of cultural work in schools and religious establishments, in addition to support from the international community.
