As Israel begins its ground offensive in Gaza City, the United Nations’ children agency UNICEF has warned that “any further intensification” of military operations will “multiply children’s suffering exponentially, ripping away the last vestiges of protection.”
In the city, 450,000 children are “traumatized and exhausted, facing famine,” without aid and with “collapsed medical care,” the agency said on X.
Children in the city have endured “nearly two years of unrelenting war” and will “face more loss if another escalation hits,” UNICEF added.
“They need protection, the world must act now.”
