Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp is making a comeback with “Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol,” a new take on Charles Dickens’ classic novel, “A Christmas Carol.”
Directed by Ti West, the film sees Depp plays Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man haunted by the ghosts of the past, present, and future on Christmas Eve.
Recently, Johnny Depp returned to America for the first time after years of legal battles with his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
He announced the new film to much anticipation and excitement from his fanbase.
Depp entered the Colosseum in Caesar’s Palace, amid thunderous applause from the audience.
On stage, Depp spoke about the role and about director Ti West’s conversation with him and his request that he star in the film: “It was a truly exceptional role, especially since I’ve been obsessed with the story of the miser since I was a child, based on the experience of the film ‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol’.”
Addressing the allegations
Depp won his legal battle against Amber Heard in 2022.
In a statement, Depp said, “Six years ago, my life, the lives of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and the lives of the people who have supported and believed in me for many years were changed forever, all in the blink of an eye.”
He added, “False, dangerous, and criminal allegations were made against me through the media, resulting in an endless barrage of hateful content, despite no charges ever being filed against me. It has already traveled around the world twice in a nanosecond and has had a seismic impact on my life and career.”
Depp continued: “After six years, the jury has given me back my life. I am fully aware of the legal hurdles I will face and the inevitable global landscape that awaits me. This decision was made only after deep consideration.”
He added: “From the beginning, the purpose of bringing this case was to uncover the truth, regardless of the outcome. Telling the truth is something I owe to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support. I am at peace knowing that I have finally accomplished this.”
