The board of directors of the Judges Club, headed by Judge Ahmed al-Zend announced in a meeting on Wednesday that the club's election would be held on 29 May, and that candidates can submit their applications to run in the elections between 11 and 16 April.
Board member Hamdy Moawad told Al-Masry Al-Youm that al-Zend will be one of the candidates, as he was encouraged to run by many judges, although he was not eager to do so.
According to judicial sources, al-Zend will reach the offficial age of retirement in eighteen months. Therefore, if he is reelected, another poll must be held once he retires.
