Actor Karim Abdel Aziz is set to star in “Al-Faraon al-Akhir” (The Last Pharaoh), slated to be the biggest movie yet in Egypt and the Middle East on Tutankhamun.
Divided into two parts, the first half of the film covers the boy-king’s reign in ancient Egypt, and the other brings to life the amazing story behind the discovery of his tomb.
Directed by Marwan Hamed and written by Ahmed Murad, the movie will utilize the latest cinematic techniques with careful research by specialized scholars.
Filming is scheduled to start in 2025, with the participation of Egyptian and international stars, and is planned to be translated into several languages.
This project comes out of Egypt’s desire to produce a monumental film befitting the scope of Tutankhamun’s legacy.
“The Last Pharaoh” has been announced two years before it comes to light. It is the first time that an Egyptian project of this size has been produced, establishing a new production pattern.
British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered King Tut’s tomb in 1922, when he dug through one of the doors and entered the tomb of the pharaoh, which has remained intact for about 3,200 years.
The tomb contained more than 5,000 artifacts, including a solid coffin, a gilded mask, and thrones.
Tutankhamun is one of the pharaohs of the Eighteenth Dynasty, ruling from 1334 BC to 1325 BC.
He is one of the most famous rulers of ancient Egypt, with particular attention being given to the mysterious circumstances behind his death and the dazzling treasures discovered in his tomb.
