The Cairo Criminal Court in the Fifth Settlement area has set July 30 to consider a lawsuit accusing singer Amr Diab of assault after slapping a fan at a wedding party in New Cairo.
The lawyers of the man slapped by Diab filed a direct misdemeanor case before the Misdemeanor Court, demanding compensation for the humiliation their client was subjected to,
Lawyer Hussein Matani revealed in a report that he claimed on behalf of the young man one billion LE in compensation.
The victim explained before the Egyptian Public Prosecution that he had gone to take pictures with singer Amr Diab, whom he already knew, saying: “I was slapped in the face because I love him (Amr Diab).”
Up to 53 lawyers from the city of Isna in the southern Upper Egypt governorate of Luxor came forward to defend the victim, Saad Osama.
The First Gathering Police Department in the Cairo Security Directorate received a report from the young man that the singer had assaulted him.
Diab’s lawyer meanwhile filed a report against Osama accusing him of harassing his client and deliberately touching the star at the wedding party.
