Lawyer in foreign funding case released on bail

Lawyer and activist Azza Suleiman has now been released on LE20,000 bail over charges of receiving foreign funds.

Investigators ordered the seizure of Suleiman's funds and banned her from travel until investigations into the case are concluded.

Cairo Airport authorities banned Suleiman from travel on Saturday and informed her that the decision was made by investigators in the case of foreign funding.

Cairo Criminal Court adjourned a challenge filed by Suleiman against the seizure of her funds until December 12.

Suleiman is accused of receiving funds of over LE50 million from foreign parties against the law.

Central Bank of Egypt reports showed that Suleiman's different bank accounts received the funding through transactions from abroad.
