Lawyer presses charges against Morsy for ‘assaulting judiciary’

Lawyer Abdallah Rabee has filed a complaint against President Mohamed Morsy, accusing him of “assaulting the judicial authority and dismissing the former top prosecutor in violation of the law.”

On Thursday the minister of justice assigned a judge to investigate the charges.

Rabee alleged that Morsy’s decision to replace former Prosecutor General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud with his adviser Talaat Abdallah was against the law. He also accused the president of encouraging his supporters to besiege the Supreme Constitutional Court in order to disrupt its work.

Morsy and Muslim Brotherhood leaders must be summoned for questioning, the complaint continued.

Rabee also demanded retribution for the victims of the Ettehadiya Presidential Palace clashes.
