At least 12 killed in attack by Ugandan rebels in eastern DR Congo

At least 12 people have been killed in an overnight attack blamed on Ugandan rebels in the restive east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a witness and local NGO said Monday.
"I saw four civilians killed by bullets… and seven patients and a nurse cut up by machete at the hospital," a regional official told AFP in the north of the troubled North Kivu province. A local non-governmental organization put the toll at 30 dead.
