Lebanese director Nadine Labaki is among members of the main jury at the 77th Cannes Film Festival whose activities began on Tuesday, and continue until Saturday, May 25.
Born in 1974, Labaki followed her passions towards the world of art and media and chose to study media at Saint Joseph University in Beirut.
Her graduation film, titled “11 Rue Pasteur” (1996), won the Best Short Film Award at the Arab Cinema Biennale.
She has gone to make several successful advertisements and video clips.
This year’s jury
The jury for the official competition of the Cannes Festival this year includes an elite group of the brightest stars and filmmakers, headed by American director Greta Gerwig, American actress Lily Gladstone, Turkish screenwriter Ebru Ceylan, French actress Eva Green, French director and writer J.A. Bayona, Italian actor Pierre Francesco, French actor and producer Omar Sy, Japanese director Hirokazu Koreda.
