Libyan authorities release 22 Egyptian expats

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday that Libyan authorities released 22 Egyptians who had been detained since the start of the Libyan uprising.

According to Ambassador Mohamed Abdel Hakam, assistant foreign minister for consular affairs and Egyptians abroad, the detainees were released on Wednesday after many calls between the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Libyan authorities.

He added that the ministry spares no effort to help Egyptian expatriates and always provides the assistance and facilities they need.
