Libyan opposition: Helicopters fire at demonstrators

Libyan opposition members in Cairo said helicopters of the Libyan army on Monday night shot at demonstrators opposing the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who were marching from the city of al-Masrata to the capital of Tripoli.

“They are Russian-made helicopters called H-24,” said Faez Gibril, an opposition protester.

Gibril noted severe clashes between demonstrators and security forces in the Azizeya district of Tripoli, which includes an army camp, adding that protesters burnt a number of Revolutionary Committee buildings, a radio station and many police stations in Tripoli.
