A guard at the Fayoum Zoo was killed on Friday after a lion he was assigned to take care of savagely attacked him.
The incident occurred while the guard, Saeed Jaber Ali, 45, was working at the lion’s house area inside the zoo. The lion suddenly attacked him and devoured him.
The Fayoum Security Directorate received a notification from the Chief of Fayoum First Police Department stating that the guard had been attacked.
Immediately, police moved to the scene of the incident, where it became clear that the guard was responsible for taking care of the lion and did not survive the attack.
The guard’s body was transferred to the morgue of Fayoum General Hospital, where a report was prepared on the incident, and the Public Prosecution Office was notified, which took over investigations.
