Assistant manager of Liverpool FC Pepijn Lijnders commented on the Egyptian pharaoh Mohamed Salah’s participation with the Egyptian national team in the 2022 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Salah will leave England, in the coming hours, on his way to Cairo on a private plane, accompanied by his colleague Mohamed Elneny, in order to attend the Egypt national team camp, which is preparing for the African Cup of Nations finals.
The African Nations Championship will be held from January 9 to February 6 with the participation of 24 African teams.
Salah scored a beautiful goal on Sunday in his team’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea during the match that brought the two teams together in the twenty-first round of the English Premier League.
During the African Cup of Nations, Liverpool will miss three of its most important players, namely Mohamed Salah, Guinean Naby Keita and Senegalese Sadio Mane, who scored Liverpool’s first goal in the Chelsea match on Sunday. Lijnders led Liverpool during the Chelsea match from the lines as Jürgen Klopp was absent from the match due to infection with the coronavirus.
He said that: Salah is a legend and has the right to participate in the African Cup of Nations and play with his country for any title, as well as Sadio Mane is another legend with us and in Senegal.
The Liverpool coach added: Salah and Mane are two great names and a great value to us. They are the front of Liverpool and give us the strength and desire to win during any match.
