President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made a telephone call to the newly-elected French President Emmanuel Macron, during which Sisi congratulated him for his new appointment and wished him success during his term.
Sisi also expressed aspirations to resume the promotion of Egyptian-French ties, as well as the bilateral partnerships and cooperation in all fields.
Meanwhile, Macron said he appreciated Sisi’s felicitations and expressed interest in meeting him soon to further the historical bilateral ties that link the two countries. He also expressed interest in boosting coordination with Egypt on several regional and international issues of joint interests.
The two leaders also tackled several bilateral issues and ways of promoting them; as well as the resumption of investigations into the downed EgyptAir airplane last year, which was en route from Paris to Cairo.
The two men also discussed recent developments of regional issues, including efforts to achieve progress in a political resolution of the situation in Libya.
Sisi invited Macron to visit Egypt, an offer which was reportedly welcomed by Macron.
