Her Royal Highness meets femme fatale.
This is how the young, rising designer Malak al-Ezzawy describes her 2010 Fall/Winter collection in an invitation to all fashionistas to sport tiaras and become their own "Femme Royale."
This season offers fitted jerseys, graceful velvet imprinted satin, and flowing chiffon dresses with touches of trims and beadings. The collection is colorful with a few black dresses, a wide array of short cocktail dresses, and grand-soiree style ballgowns.
“The collection has a vintage feel to it with a modern take,” says al-Ezzawy.
Some of the accessories are imported from France. The fabrics are Egyptian, French and Saudi Arabian.
Al-Ezzawy says her favorite gown in the collection is a cheongsam-style dress with velvet embroidery. The gown is slim-fitted and has a very feminine cut to accentuate a young woman's natural curves.
It took al-Ezzawy two month to finish the collection, which, she says, "is tailored for the confident lady who is not afraid to stand out and can handle the compliments.”
