Man dies from injuries incurred during Mohamed Mahmoud clashes

A young man injured last month during clashes on Mohamed Mahmoud Street died Saturday morning. The clashes occurred between protesters and security forces.

Ahmed Saleh, 21, was hospitalized for 21 days after being shot in the neck and the back.

Deputy Minister of Health Hesham Shiha announced the death of Saleh, who was shot in the spine, causing it to break. His health deteriorated until he died this morning, bringing the clashes’ total death toll to 45.

Police forces attempted to forcibly disperse a protest in Tahrir Square last month. They used live fire and tear gas, causing the death of 45 and the injury of hundreds others.

After the announcement, the protesters in Tahrir performed funeral prayers in Tahrir square and Omar Makram mosque, and they marched from Qasr al-Aini Street to Tahrir bearing a figurative coffin.
