Security sources in Daqahlia governorate said that investigators identified the Daqahlia Security Directorate bomber in the attack that left 16 people dead and more than 130 others injured.
“The results of investigation will be announced in the next few days,” the sources said.
Sources said that authorities were able to identify the suspect through DNA testing and security camera footage from a nearby bank.
“The perpetrator is one of the wanted elements in Sinai and has links to Ansar Bayt al-Maqdes,” the source added.
Reports by the National Security Agency revealed that the suspect frequented the area of the attack in Mansoura at least six times before committing the crime, and he was suspected to be involved in the July Mansoura bombing where a blast killed a police officer and wounded 28 Central Security Forces personnel.
Surveillance video from a nearby bank spotted the suspect just before the blast in a white pick-up truck. The source added that 18 other suspects have been arrested for possible links to the incident.
