Mashat says partnership framework with UN ushers in new phase of cooperation

International Cooperation Minister Rania al-Mashat said the signing of the 2023-2027 strategic partnership framework on sustainable development ushers in a new phase of cooperation between Egypt and the United Nations.

During a ceremony held on this occasion Tuesday, Mashat added the inking of the strategic partnership framework with the UN concludes the stages of preparing and formulating development cooperation strategies with multilateral development partners for the next five years, which in turn contributes to achieving the national goals and meeting citizens’ needs.

She stated her ministry is keen on benefiting from international partnerships in general and the strategic partnership with the UN in particular.

The minister went on to say that Egypt seeks to strengthen development partnerships with specialized UN programs and agencies, with the aim of consolidating the principles of multilateral cooperation and solidarity among peoples, maintaining international peace and security, attaining social development, improving living standards, enhancing human rights, and addressing development challenges, notably climate change and epidemics, as well as ensuring that no one is left behind.

The 2018-2022 United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework succeeded in realizing the goals of comprehensive economic development, social justice, sustainability of natural and environmental resources and empowerment of women, Mashat said.

She added the UN executes projects in all governorates, with a view to assisting and supporting the most vulnerable groups.
