Masked gunmen injured acting head of Zagazig University Abdel Hakim Nour Eddin while he was heading to the university Thursday morning.
He was transferred to the hospital.
Head of Sharqiya Security Directorate Khaled Yehya and criminal investigators inspected the scene of the crime.
According to initial investigations, three masked gunmen on a motorcycle shot Nour Eddin on Harya Road in Zagazig city and then escaped.
Nour Eddin's health condition is stable, said head of the emergency department with Sharqiya Health Department Essam Farahat. He added that Nour Eddin was transferred to Zagazig University Hospital.
