Ibrahim Mehleb, the prime minister-designate tasked with forming the new government, has kept 14 ministers from the previous government of Hazem al-Beblawy and merged eight ministries.
The ministers who are to continue are Adel Labib of the Ministry of Local Administrative Development, Mohamed Ibrahim of the Interior Ministry, Sherif Ismail of the Petroleum Ministry, Hisham Zaazou of the Ministry of Tourism, Doria Sharaf Eddin of the Information Ministry, Ashraf al-Araby of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, Mohamed Mokhtar of the Ministry of Endowments, Khaled Abdel Aziz of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mahmoud Aboul Nasr of the Ministry of Education, Mohamed Ibrahim Shaker of the Ministry of Antiquities, Atef Helmy of the Ministry of Communications, Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Investment, Mohamed Amin al-Mahdi of the Ministry of Transitional Justice, and Ayman Farid Abu Hadid of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will continue as defense minister, and Nabil Fahmy will continue as minister of foreign affairs.
Mehleb has excluded members of political parties and forces from the new government, except Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour, a leading figure of the Wafd Party.
He appointed Ibrahim Younis as minister for military production, Hossam Kamal as minister for civil aviation, Nahed Ashry as minister of manpower, Ghada Waly as minister for social solidarity, and Khaled Hanafy as minister of supply.
Eight ministries were merged into four new ones, namely the ministries of Youth and Sports, Local and Administrative Development, Internal Trade and Investment, and Planning and International Cooperation.
The local and administrative development minister said he is concentrating on creating new job opportunities and developing shantytowns.
Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said he would provide full logistical support for security.
Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismail said he would increase production and develop gas networks and laboratories to supply the market with adequate reserves.
Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou he would work on reviving tourism.
Minister of Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar said he would control the religious discourse, face extremism and improve conditions for preachers.
