Minister: Egypt to implement projects worth LE3.1 bn in May

Two hundred twenty-one industrial projects worth LE3.1 billion were cleared in May to begin implementation, Trade and Industry Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour said Monday.

The number of projects represents a 130% surge from the same time last year where 96 projects worth LE1.2 billion were approved, according to the minister.

He added that the projects, targeting several sectors including chemicals, foodstuff, textile, building materials and mining, will offer 7,374 jobs.

Monufiya is first among Egyptian governorates hosting these projects with 53 undertakings, followed by Cairo with 33.
