Transportation Minister Alaa Fahmy ordered bonuses and 200-percent salary increases for railway workers, accounting for a total of LE83 million of the 2010/2011 state budget.
“This decision aims to improve the operations of this important service, which is directly linked to workers’ performance,” he said.
Fahmy went on to explain that he had based his decision on recommendations made by local and international consulting firms to provide a more suitable atmosphere for employees.
