Russian tourism is starting to recover and the number of Russian tourists coming to Egypt is expected to reach 3 million by the end of 2014, Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou said on the sidelines of Intourmarket 2014, held in Moscow between 15 to 18 March.
Zaazou heads an Egyptian delegation taking part in the event.
The minister added that the meetings with Russian partners showed a positive progress in tourist traffic between Egypt and Russia. The ministry will coordinate with the aviation sector to increase the number of flights to areas of the Red Sea, he said.
Zaazou menioned that the file of religious tourism was a top priority for the ministry, including the revival of the Holy Family visit which would be a unique program.
The number of Russian tourists in Egypt in 2013 reached about 2.4 million who stayed about 23.7 million nights, thus ranking first on the list of inbound tourism to Egypt.
