Ministers to discuss economic, security issues with governors

Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri will head the second meeting of the Board of Governors on Wednesday to discuss a number of topics including governorate plans to address the problem of high commodity prices, especially liquefied petroleum gas, and to discuss ways to increase food supplies for citizens.

A cabinet source said the meeting would be attended by the ministers of interior, local development, planning and international cooperation and finance.

The source added that the ministers will present a number of reports related to solving governorate problems and that Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim would present a report on the security situation in various governorates and the ministry's plans to address the lack of security.

The source also said that the finance minister will report on the status of special government funds, amounting to around LE36 billion, which the Finance Ministry would like to annex to the state budget, and plans to give all temporary workers fixed contracts.

During the meeting, the attendees would also discuss the actions taken by the various governorates to address the garbage problem and the conversion of some garbage dumps into youth centers in cooperation with the National Council for Youth and the National Sports Council.
