Ministry of Navigation closes Egypt’s airspace temporarily: Security source

A security source at the Borg al-Arab International Airport said on Monday that the Ministry of Navigation’s Air Traffic Control has temporarily closed Egypt’s airspace due to visibility issues caused by mist across the country.

The source added that traffic control changed the route of two air flights coming from the Saudi cities of al-Medina and Jeddah to land on the Cairo International Airport, adding that the Ministry of Civil Aviation redirected all air flight routes set to land on the Borg al-Arab Airport to the Cairo International Airport instead.

Meteorologists on Sunday reported that mist would affect visibility in the morning at the northern coasts and Lower Egypt, accompanied by rainfall which would impact airplane traffic.
