Major General Ahmed Mahmoud Wasfy, commander of the Second Field Army, said Monday in a press statement that the armed forces will continue to send reinforcements of troops, weapons and equipment to Sinai.
“The military missions in Sinai are ongoing, until the complete elimination of terrorism and crime spots,” he said.
.Wasfy added that the upcoming few hours will see intensive military missions in Sinai targeting what he described as new criminal and terrorist hotbeds.
The military campaign comes in the wake of an attack targeting an army check point in Rafah near the Egyptian-Israeli border on 5 August, killing 16 officers and soldiers.
