Liverpool Egyptian star Mohamed Salah won the English Premier League best player award for 2022, in a ceremony held on Thursday evening.
However, Manchester City won the English Premier League title this season, beating its rival Liverpool, by just one point.
On June 1, the English Premier League the list of players nominated to win the Premier League Player of the Year title.
On June 1, the list of nominated players for the Premier League Player of the Year title, was announced including six players, with three from Liverpool and only one player from each of: Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham.
The list of nominees included:
Belgian Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City (30 years old).
– UK’s Harry Kane – Tottenham (28 years old).
– Egypt’s Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (29 years old).
Senegalese Sadio Mane – Liverpool (30 years old).
Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo – Manchester United (37 years).
Dutch Virgil van Dijk – Liverpool (30 years old).
Salah was voted in for the second time in a row for the player of the season by supporters and Forever Reds, the club’s official former players association, winning Liverpool‘s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Season 2021-22 award.
Salah had won this award for 2022, with the vote of the fans.
Salah previously won the title of top scorer in the English Premier League for this season, after scoring 22 goals, equal to the goals scored by Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min.
Salah won the Premier League’s Playmaker of the Season award for the most assists in the 2021-22 season, after assisting 13 goals.
Salah was crowned with the Golden Boot award for the Premier League in the current season 2021-2022, which came to an end on May 22, after he topped the list of top scorers in the English Premier League.
Salah is currently spending his vacation in Hurghada after taking a break from the national team training due to a minor injury.
Technical director of the Pharaohs, Ehab Galal, announced that Salah would take a break and would not join the Egyptian team’s mission to Malawi, for the Egypt-Ethiopia match in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire in 2023.
Salah was voted the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year, the best player of the season by the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association (LDSA), and the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Fans’ Player of the Year.
