Emergency Supreme State Security Court on Tuesday sentenced Morsy-era Minya governor Mostafa Kamel Eissa to 15 days in prison, pending ongoing investigation, on charges of attempting to overthrow the government and incitement of violence, a security source told Turkish news agency Anadolu.
Eissa, a member of the local Administrative Office of the Muslim Brotherhood in Minya, has been put in a detention that security forces refuse to disclose for security reasons.
Police arrested Eissa in Minya as part of a wider campaign to arrest Muslim Brotherhood leading members.
Many Muslim Brotherhood members and supporters have been arrested since the dispersal of the pro-Mohamed Morsy sit in mid-August. Most of those arrested face charges of inciting violence, attacking police and army members, as well as attempted murder.
