Muslim Brotherhood supporters stage march in Giza

Dozens of Muslim Brotherhood supporters staged a march after Friday prayers from Khatam al-Morsaleen mosque in Giza.

They held pro-Muslim Brotherhood banners, saying that the group advocated calling to God, not terrorism, while they chanted The coup is terrorism” and demanded the release of Brotherhood prisoners.

Earlier this week, the Cabinet issued a statement labeling the Muslim Brotherhood a “terrorist organization” after the Mansoura bombing that took place at the Daqahlia Security Directorate, where at least 16 people were killed and dozens wounded.

Despite the fact that Ansar Beyt al-Maqdes, which is not affiliated with the Brotherhood, claimed responsibility for the attack, the government has decided to place blame squarely on the Brotherhood.

The government said that the new law applies to anyone who is a member of the group or who finances it.

Another explosion occurred in Nasr City on Thursday injuring five people, after which Interior Ministry Spokesperson Hani Abdel Latif said that the penalty for leading a Muslim Brotherhood demonstration “will be a death sentence, even if it is a woman.”
