George Ishak, head of the governorates committee of the National Association for Change, was quoted by a Spanish news agency as saying “to hell with ElBaradei, we don’t want to hear of him.”
Ishak was commenting on ElBaradei’s absence from the 25 January “Day of Anger” demonstrations.
“I don’t know where he goes when he leaves Egypt,” he said.
ElBaradei had told the German magazine Der Spiegel that he supported the demonstrations, and considered them the start of an “historic” period.
Justifying his absence from the event, ElBaradei said he did not want to “steal the limelight from the young protesters.”
