Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr said Thursday that a large delegation of major US companies will visit Cairo next month to discuss pumping new investments into Egypt in the light of the new opportunities being announced

During a phone interview with al-Masry al-Youm from New York, Nasr said that the ministry began arranging the visit after President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with representatives of a group of major American companies in New York on the sidelines of his visit to attend the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

The US delegation would include companies working in the fields of infrastructure, energy, health care, tourism, food industries, technology, engineering, ICT, and several international investment funds, Nasr said.

“We will start proactive negotiations with these companies in Washington next month, on the sidelines of Egypt’s participation in the autumn meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, which will contribute greatly to start injecting new direct investments from these companies to Egypt in the next six months,” Nasr said.

She pointed out that the return of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to start its work in Egypt after a pause of seven years accelerate the harvesting the fruits of the movements of these companies in Egypt.

Meanwhile, Nasr said that Egypt is moving ahead with the implementation of an ambitious economic reform program, and working to provide the appropriate atmosphere for the private sector and investors to participate in the implementation of major national and developmental projects in various governorates across Egypt.

During a ministerial session on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, she said that the government is working to make the most of all the funding and grants provided for every project and every initiative.
