Abdel Gelil Mostafa, the newly-appointed coordinator-general of the National Association for Change (NAC) reform movement, assumed his new position at a general assembly of the NAC on Wednesday, replacing political commentator Hassan Nafea.
Both men declined to give press statements following the meeting.
According to former NAC spokesman Hamdi Kandil, the association plans to establish a new general secretariat consisting of 50 public figures, "some 30 percent of whom will be young people.”
Kandil also said that the NAC planned to appoint a woman and a young man as deputies to Mostafa.
“We also intend to meet with legal experts and officials from the Alliance of Egyptian Americans to discuss how Egyptians living abroad can vote in upcoming elections,” he said.
Kandil went on to chide Mohamed ElBaradei, NAC founder and would-be presidential contender, for spending too much time outside of Egypt, which, he said, had "adversely affected the association's performance."
