The Defense and National Security Council approved on Sunday the budget allocated for the Interior Ministry. The council also called for an increase in the budget to support training and social care programs.
Major General Yehia Kedwany, the council's deputy, confirmed that the budget was approved, saying that it will be reviewed by the general committee before being given the final go-ahead. In remarks made to the press, Kedwany said the council approved supporting the work of the Interior Ministry.
The committee requested, however, that the budget should be increased to allow funds to be allocated to various projects such as the establishment of new police stations, training to improve the performance of policemen and an increase in the financial support for social care. These proposals were welcomed by ministry representatives.
