Naval forces rescue civilian helicopter crew on Mediterranean Sea

Egypt’s naval forces managed to rescue the crew of a civilian helicopter that fell into the Mediterranean Sea on Sunday as part of the naval forces’ efforts to support marine search and rescue, securing coasts and protecting maritime borders in all strategic directions, said Military Spokesperson Tamer al-Refai.

The Armed Forces’ Search and Rescue Center said that an Oil Services Company’s helicopter carrying a crew of four, including Egyptian, British, Italian and Nigerian nationals, disappeared from the radar system while flying over a petroleum platform north of Port Said Base in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Colonel General of the Armed Forces Mohamed Zaki directed three naval units to rescue the helicopter’s passengers after observing that they were stranded wearing life vests in the sea.

The Armed Forces sent the passengers to Port Said Naval Base to receive medical treatment.
