Navy officer killed in Alexandria crossfire

A navy officer has been killed and two police officers wounded in clashes between security and unknown individuals in downtown Alexandria.

Security sources said Colonel Mohamed Badr was killed while unknown attackers shot at security from a rooftop in Shatby.

The Health Ministry earlier officially announced two had been killed so far in clashes between security and protesters opposed to the government that ousted former president Mohamed Morsy who took to the streets in response to a call by the Salafi Front, a group opposed to the former leader’s ouster.
