The New Administrative Capital is preparing for the Tuesday inauguration ceremony for President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s new presidential term, in one of the new capital’s most important events.
The House of Representatives will hold the swearing-in session at its new headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development, Khaled Abbas, said in press statements that the ceremony will begin with the House of Representatives session on Tuesday.
It will then be followed by taking the constitutional oath before the house, visiting the memorial monument to lay wreaths, and then raising up the Egyptian flag.
Abbas added that with the end of inauguration ceremony, the presidential headquarters will move to the New Administrative Capital, completing the transfer of the country’s governance from within its headquarters after the government’s earlier move.
The inauguration ceremony will serve as the official opening of the first phase of the New Administrative Capital, he noted, which will receive great publicity during ceremony broadcast internationally.
The Egyptian Constitution specifies the procedures for taking the constitutional oath for the President, before assuming his duties.
The constitutional oath is required to be taken before the House of Representatives, and in the event of the absence of the House, the President may take the constitutional oath before the Supreme Constitutional Court.
The Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the House of Representatives, Ehab al-Tamawy, explained that President Sisi will take the constitutional oath before members of the House of Representatives, in the presence of a number of guests and public figures, followed by the President delivering a speech to the nation.
