The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Air Cairo Hussein Sherif announced that the company will begin operating direct flights from Sharm el-Sheikh Airport to the Spanish capital of Madrid, starting from October 29 with an average of one trip per week.
Sherif said that the experience is the first of its kind to attract tourists from Spain.
In a Sunday statement, the chairman added the company is participating in inviting 30 major tour operators to introduce the advantage this new trip to Sharm el-Sheikh brings to Egyptian tourism.
Spanish tourists can combine antiquities tourism with beach tourism to Egypt, he noted, and utilize the company’s international network from Spain to Luxor, Aswan and Sharm el-Sheikh, alongside connecting domestic flights between Luxor and Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh and Cairo.
This new lines comes to continue the company’s role in transferring tourist traffic from countries exporting tourism to Egypt’s tourist attractions.
With this line, Sherif explained that it will increase Air Cairo’s operation between Egyptian tourist attractions and five Spanish cities – Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, Bilbao – to up to 10 flights per week.
Air Cairo, affiliated with the Civil Aviation Ministry, currently operates 32 of the latest airplane models with an average age of five years, the shortest in Africa and the Near East.
